How to Tie a Tie

Okay we will start with the basics.

How to tie a tie.

I feel this is something that every adult should learn at some stage in their lives.

I will explain how to tie a tie step by step in writing, but for those of you out there who are a little more visual I will also demonstrate how to do it in the video below.

1) Start with the wide end of your tie on the right side of your neck, extending approximately 12 inches below the narrow end (which will be on the left side of your neck.
2) Cross the wide end over the top of the narrow end from right to left.
3) Bring the wide end around and behind the narrow end from left to right.
4) Bring the wide end up towards your face.
5) Put the wide end through the hole between your neck and the tie.
6) Bring the wide end around the front, over the narrow end from right to left.
7) From here we are going to do the Skyking manoeuvre.  Grab the wide end with your left hand and the thin end with your right thumb and middle finger.
8) Now point your right index finger towards the ceiling (while still holding the thin end with your thumb and middle finger).  Take your left hand and move it up and over your right hand index finger and to the right side of your neck.  Then from there move the tie around your right index finger and towards the left side of your neck, so you are left with the wide end of the tie wrapped around your right index finger.
9) From here take the wide end of the tie, from the underneath side, put it through the hole between your neck and the tie (towards your head) and then back through the hole that you created with your right index finger and the tie 'knot' (towards your feet).
10) Pull it tight and your have just tied your first tie! Well done!
